The winter storms of 2021 damaged numerous submarine outfalls on the Mediterranean coast, from Alicante to Gerona. Sistemas de Tubos repaired many of them as an emergency work in the spring of the same year, before the opening of the beach season.
One of the most emblematic was the repair of the underwater outfall of Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona) located next to Playa del Faro. The repair works consisted of 3 sections of DN 900 pn6 pipe of 432m in total and special flanges of the same diameter to adapt to the existing outfall. The works of SISTEMAS DE TUBOS included the welding of the pipe and special parts, the supply of flanges suitable for seawater, development of a ballast fastening system and assistance to the construction company in the conceptual design, the positioning of the pipe and the underwater connection works.
